This month we started a two-part series to explore a new “little blue pill.” But you aren’t likely to see ads for this one on television during a football game. This blue pill is used as a Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, as the latest way to fight the spread of HIV. The drug is called Truvada and it’s being taken by men who have sex with men and who are HIV negative as a way to protect themselves. In part 1 of our series, we’ll hear from the United States Center for Disease Control, learn how Truvada actually works, and talk with two gay men, one who is taking Truvada and one who is still unsure about it. Whether you identify as a member of the LGBT community or not, this is information you need to know.
