Show Notes – February 26, 2017

This month we talk got caught up with two of the organizations that have been part of the LGBT community here in the Bay Area since 1978.  We begin talking with three members of the Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.  They shared some of the history of the Sisters organization and talked about what’s planned for 2017.  The Russian River Sisters are a vital part of the community, especially in west Sonoma County.  They raise funds for many other non-profit groups and are always there to support LGBT events, including the annual pride celebration.  The members are dedicated volunteers who continue to carry on the spirit left by those who founded the first order in San Francisco.

We also talk with Dr. Timothy Seelig, the conductor and artistic director of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus.  Next year the chorus will celebrate its 40th birthday!  It started with a group of 100 men in San Francisco who first performed on the day Harvey Milk was murdered back in 1978.  Since that time the chorus has performed at many civic events and has helped raise money for many organizations including Face To Face here in Sonoma County. Dr. Seelig talks about the history of the Chorus and about the upcoming Lavender Pen tour of America’s south.
