2018 marks 20 years since a 21-year-old gay college student named Matthew Shepard was murdered in Laramie Wyoming. When he died, his parents, Judy and Dennis Shepard, created the Matthew Shepard Foundation with the intent to replace hate with understanding, acceptance and compassion. Each year the Foundation hosts a gala to celebrate Matthew’s legacy.
This month we take you to Denver, Colorado and share highlights from this year’s gala. You’ll hear from the award recipients, including former secretary of the army, Eric Fanning, and from Judy Shepard.
