Show Notes – April 29, 2018

On this Outbeat Extra edition of Outbeat News In Depth we began a two-part update on HIV with a focus on women’s health.  Students from the Napa Valley College LGBT Studies program co-hosted the show as part of their capstone project and brought with them Public Health Nurse, Miranda Patrick, from the Sonoma County Department of Health Services. We talked about why women should be tested for HIV and updated everyone on how HIV is passed and how to prevent an infection.

Next month we continue this update with a show devoted to removing the mystery and fear of the HIV testing process.  We will conduct an actual HIV test and counseling session so you can hear from start to finish exactly how a test is conducted.  And we promise, no needles involved.
