Robbie Rogers always knew he was gay, but what he heard in church and in the locker room kept him hiding deep in the closet. But in 2013, it all changed when Robbie came out and became the first out gay man to play on a U.S. professional sports team. Robbie visited Santa Rosa this month to talk with teens at Santa Rosa High School about his story and his new book, “Coming Out To Play.” This month, Robbie stopped by to talk more about his experience growing up, his passion for soccer, and what it’s like now to be “out” in professional soccer.
In the second half of this show, we talked with a married couple from Minneapolis who are Christian Pastors. What’s most unusual is that they are both “out” gay men. Oby Ballinger and Javen Swanson talked about how they met at the seminary and how they reconciled their faith with their sexuality.
