Hate crimes and immigration are two big issues impacting LGBTQ people throughout the United States.  We talked with experts on both topics this month starting with Cynthia Deitle, a former FBI agent and now programs director for the Matthew Shepard Foundation.  She lead hate crimes investigations for the FBI and now trains law enforcement on how to document and report hate crimes.

Okan Sengun is the CEO and co-founder of the LGBT Asylum Project in San Francisco.  He is an immigrant from Turkey.  As a gay man, he fled his home country and now helps LGBTQ people who flee to the United States for safety to get asylum.
